📓 Situation

THE PEOPLE & PROBLEMS

Provide a way for individuals with Sensory Information Processing Sensitivities to support themselves...

...through a public directory designed to ease their willingness to educate & update their knowledge on:

  • Symptoms & leading factors.

  • Relevant support strategies, transparent with background research.

  • Recently or previously discovered tools. (products/ softwares/ apps)

THE ROUTES & RATIONALES

Here I chose to follow a renamed D.E.S.I.G.N. methodology that...

... combines the UCD design thinking & double diamond processes. This lead to defining these as key design features:

  • Multiple presentations of the same information.

  • Affordances to filter information for relevancy.

  • Colour & shape coding everywhere.

📕 Usability

THE OBSERVED OUTCOMES

The moderated 3 participant test focused on the ease of navigating architecture & digesting information…

…because the directory was being built on a platform with an established design system. Results showed:

  • Homepage lacks clear subpage paths.

  • Database relationships require transparency.

  • Card architecture were most preferred.

📘 Direction

THE POTENTIAL PROSPECTS

The scope of this W.I.P. project is only limited by the acceptance it receives from the community it means to serve...

...which suggests most obvious next steps to be:

  • Transparent methods of revising information.

  • Facilitate individuals drafting/ saving personally chosen support plans.

  • Foster community participation.

THE LEARNED LESSONS

critique/ reflections/ lessons ↓

I find the prospect of societal change & awareness around accessibility needs deeply motivating...

...which allows me to graciously accept these lesson, along with the ones yet to come:

  • Passion for subject matter overrides decision fatigue.

  • Test early, openly & fearlessly.

  • No such thing as a finished design.

For further details on...

  • CONSTRUCTIVE REFLECTIONS ON WORKING EXPERIENCES
  • LESSONS IN RECEIVING & IMPLEMENTING FEEDBACK
